Find a Healthcare Provider

For many people with interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome (IC/BPS), an effective treatment plan requires a team approach, including urologists and other physicians, nurse practitioners, physical therapists, dietitians, and counselors.

The ICA Healthcare Provider Registry includes clinicians who have been recommended by IC/BPS patients. The ICA does not recommend or endorse these individual healthcare providers.

When choosing a provider from this registry, we encourage you to do your own research before scheduling an appointment. Reading patient reviews on platforms such as Google, Healthgrades, Zocdoc, or Yelp can give you a sense of a provider’s communication style, office environment, and experience with complex conditions like IC/BPS.

Keep in mind, however, that online reviews have limitations. They tend to skew toward extreme experiences (e.g., patients who were either very satisfied or very frustrated) and may not reflect the typical experience. A provider who is highly knowledgeable about IC/BPS may still receive mixed reviews for reasons unrelated to their clinical expertise. Reviews can also reflect factors like wait times or billing issues rather than quality of care.

We recommend using reviews as one tool among many. Asking your care team for referrals, connecting with others in the IC/BPS patient community, and scheduling an initial consultation to assess whether a provider is a good fit for your specific needs are all valuable steps. Feeling heard and respected by your provider is an important part of managing a complex chronic condition like IC/BPS, and it’s okay to seek a second opinion or try a different provider if needed.

Also, if you are looking for a pelvic floor physical therapist, you may find the Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehab Institute directory to be helpful.
