IC and COVID-19 – A message from the ICA Medical Advisory Board

We understand that this is a challenging time for everyone, and we wanted to share the following message from the interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome (IC/BPS) experts. There are no data to suggest that IC/BPS patients are immunosuppressed. Thus, having IC/BPS alone does not make you more susceptible to the virus. However, if you are taking any immunosuppressants (such as cyclosporine) to control your IC/BPS symptoms, that could put you at higher risk for any infection, including COVID-19. Many IC patients have other medical conditions or may be receiving medications for other medical conditions that could put you at higher risk. Please talk to your doctor if you have concerns about any medications that you are taking and their effects on COVID-19. We’re all in this together and ICA is here for you!
