*It is estimated that 4 to 12 million people have, or suspect they have, interstitial cystitis (IC). The RAND Interstitial Cystitis Epidemiology (RICE) study estimates prevalence of 3 to 8 million women in the US with IC. The study did not include men; however, estimates indicate that there are 1 to 4 million men with IC. Many males may be misdiagnosed and the actual number of men with IC may be higher.
