Oral Medicines

Pentosan Polysulfate Sodium (Elmiron) is the only oral medicine FDA-approved specifically for IC. Elmiron is thought to work by restoring a damaged, thin, or "leaky" bladder surface. Other medicines used to treat IC symptoms include antidepressants, antihistamines, and pain relievers. There are other oral medicines that can help with IC symptoms.
