ICA Efforts Pay Off!

NIH Funds New IC Research

Since the ICA’s founding in 1984, our advocacy efforts have been directly responsible for allocation by Congress of nearly $100 million in funding to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for IC research. The ICA has been persistent in its efforts to ensure that the NIH continues to direct more funding towards much-needed IC research on a yearly basis. As a result of the ICA’s efforts and the support of key Congressional representatives, in 2003 the NIH allocated over $5 million towards IC basic science research. This month the NIH announced the following grant recipients whose IC projects will receive NIH funding. Over twenty IC-related studies have received funding during this yearly funding cycle.
