CME/CEU
In addition to providing you with the latest IC research and treatment news, the ICA also offers educational programs so physicians and other healthcare providers can learn about the most current approaches to diagnosis and management of IC. Some of these educational tools also carry CME/CEU/CE credit for physicians, physicians’ assistants, nurses, pharmacists, and other providers.

AUA Establishes Urology Core Curriculum for Doctors
The American Urological Association (AUA) recently unveiled the first ever AUA Urology Core Curriculum—a comprehensive reference guide detailing the knowledge and steps involved in delivering quality urological care. The Core Curriculum is divided into more than 50 specialized sections and thoroughly covers the breadth of urology topics—including IC—and can be accessed entirely online. This allows urologists and other health care professionals all across the country to access the latest information concerning a particular urologic condition they may see in their practice, as well as urology as a whole.
One of these sections is devoted entirely to IC with the goal of ensuring that all urologists can:
- define and recognize IC symptoms
- accurately diagnose IC using appropriate diagnostic criteria

- understand the different theories on the causes of IC
- recognize that IC and other chronic pain conditions may present with similar symptoms
- recommend multimodal therapies for IC
- appreciate the impact of IC on the patient and their families.
In addition to being a comprehensive resource for urologic information, the Core Curriculum provides the content base upon which American Board of Urology (ABU) certification and recertification exams for residents and physicians will be based in the future. This will ensure that all urologists receive adequate training about the full spectrum of urologic conditions—including IC. All AUA members will have access to the AUA Urology Core Curriculum and content will be updated frequently to ensure that information is kept current.
